Deep acne, sun damage, age, and skin injuries can cause dark spots on your complexion: Hyperpigmentation. This skin condition is essentially caused by the excess production of melanin, the pigment that gives human skin, hair, and eyes their color. Those with darker skin have more melanin in their skin than those with light skin. Melanin is activated through sun contact and thus, more melanin is produced when your skin is exposed to UV rays. Excess melanin production is also caused by skin injuries such as a cut, bruise, and pimples – when your skin is damaged, cells might not be able to regenerate the skin pigments that were existent before. When the skin pigments can't be regenerated, darker pigments form over the damaged area thereby causing dark spots. Hyperpigmentation is also a hereditary condition and is embedded in one's DNA.

Fortunately, there are natural and safe ingredients that help to fade dark spots over time. There is proof in the photo we included with this post from one of our customers, who has been using the Bella Aura collection for over a year and found that the products have effectively lightened her dark spots.
