Interview with Bella Aura brand ambassador, Renata Vosyliene
"The only blogger in Ireland that pays attention to the ingredients and what they are doing to you. My blog is a passion project of mine with a mission to help people switch to natural and nontoxic products! I am a big advocate of being an informed consumer. Ditch conventional beauty and skincare stuff, there are way better alternatives available, and they work even better! Follow me https://www.instagram.com/green_life_in_dublin/, and you will see. Sharing my views from very sensitive and dermatitis prone skin perspective."
Renata is a major advocate of Bella Aura, and we are so honored to have her as a brand ambassador. If you head to her blog post https://greenlifeindublin.blogspot.com/2018/03/bella-aura-skincare-review.html from a few months ago, you can read more about her skin journey and how our Signature Collection has transformed her skin. Renata has been supporting our brand for quite some time, and naturally we wanted to get to know this beauty a little more...
Q: How did you become interested in clean skincare and beauty?
My journey into the green beauty began a decade ago, when I picked up a book "Imperfectly Natural Woman" by Janey Lee Grace for a weekend read, and let's just say my eyes were opened to so many things! Including me thinking what's actually in our beauty products for the first time in my life. Until then I was naive enough to think that all the products go through vigorous testing before they hit the shelves to make sure they are nontoxic and suitable for use on our precious skin. Nothing could be further from the from the truth, and I was shocked, angry and disgusted about it. Don't believe me? Check the ingredients of average high street (or even high end) foundation or face cream and you will be too!
I actually struggled a LOT at the start of my green beauty journey, as that was the time way before the green scene exploded, and even before the online stores happened - and oh boy, my life was so much easier ever since. I can actually find every product I want/need in the green beauty realm, and I don't feel deprived of anything, nor I miss anything from the "conventional beauty" world - green beauty has everything, and products work so much better!
Q: Walk us through your ideal daily skincare regimen.
Even though I am a green beauty blogger, I actually use very little products in my day to day life - mainly Bella Aura line, which takes care of my skincare needs, plus a few other additional products.
So, in the morning I mist my face with either chamomile, rose water or some gentle toner and wipe my face clean to prepare it for Bella Aura Daily Repair Moisturizer (2 pumps) mixed with Antioxidant Booster (1 pump). I'll pat it onto my skin and move onto Instant Lift Eye Contour, which I try to half-pump to get just the right amount of product, and gently pat it into my under eyes. Next goes on my sunscreen, all natural of course - at the moment I am using Kimberly Sayer Ultra Light Organic Facial Moisturizer SPF30 or this new Madara Plant Stem Cell Age Protecting Sunscreen SPF30, and then my skin is ready to face the day.
In the evening, I wash my face with Bella Aura cleanser, taking my eye make up with either coconut or jojoba oil, and then move on onto Bella Aura Night Cellular Renewal cream, mixed with Antioxidant Booster, followed by Instant Lifting Eye Contour. My skin is calm, happy and nourished, and I need nothing else for the most of the time. For the times I decide to pamper myself, I love a good mask, and the ones I love the most are caffeine sheet masks, which I dubbed Hannibal masks - I am not too happy about the plastic waste that comes with it, for this reason alone I rarely allow them for myself, but boy, they do make your skin red carpet ready. For the times when my skin needs something more moisturising (in the cold weather), I add a drop or two of facial oil or a balm on top.
I am very light handed with exfoliation, it is taken care of by using a Konjac sponge with my Bella Aura cleanser. My super sensitive skin thanks me for this super streamlined routine. That's it!
Q: What are three things most would be surprised to know about you?
Hmm, let me see? I am left handed, I speak three languages, and one of the best things I've done in life was moving countries in my early twenties. I never had a spray tan or hair or eye lash extensions in my life. Being on the wrong side of 30s, I still can't apply false lashes to save my life, haha!
Q: How has incorporating the Bella Aura collection in your skincare routine transformed your skin?
Bella Aura was the best surprise and the best discovery when it comes to the skincare. Seriously, I never want to use anything else, and all my other stash is shelved for months. Trust me, this is big coming from the beauty blogger! I am a biggest Bella Aura fan for life, simply because I find it the best. Not only it suits my super sensitive skin to perfection, but this line also healed my perioral dermatitis, even though it is not aimed at doing so. I was amazed at how good my skin looked and felt on the first couple of days, and seeing my dermatitis patch on my cheek disappear on the day three was the best gift ever! That's when I knew I am head over heels in love with the line and this is what I want to use for the rest of my life, no kidding. Green beauty has many different gorgeous lines, but I never had success on this level before, where every single product in the line would suit my skin. I also really love the fact that all my skincare needs are taken care of with only five products - I love the streamlined routine, not having excess of products and not having to think what shall I use tonight and whether my skin will react to it or not. Continuously happy and healthy skin is what I get using Bella Aura, and I want to jump for joy and shout from the rooftops about it! Yasmine has done a brilliant job with this line, and I really respect and appreciate all the hard work that went into it.
Q: What's your take on the beauty and skincare industry in Ireland?
I see things improving over the years, and I am so happy to see more and more brands popping up, as well as natural products getting into mainstream shops, but we still have such a long way to go! One of the most common questions I get from followers is them wanting recommendations for natural beauty shops - and everyone expects them to be like Whole Foods, Detox Market or Sephora like - well, sorry, but we have neither here in Ireland! Green beauty products are available, but you have to know where to look for it. People are sort of confused when I direct them to lots of smaller different shops all over Dublin, and truth to be told, I too would like to see one big shop dedicated to only green beauty open up - I miss that aspect of going into the brick and mortar shop and being able to browse and test the products to my heart's content.
Q: Your daily mantra...
Everything will be OK in the end. If it's not OK, it is not the end!
